Is Kate Middleton excited for the Barbie, or did she just wear pink?
On Tuesday, June 27, the Princess of Wales visited the Young V&A (Victoria and Albert) Museum in London, where children who participated in the renewal project showed her the new galleries. Over the past three years, the museum meant for children aged 14 and younger went through renovations.
Kate wore a light pink Beulah day dress in the Ahana style. It has feminine puffy sleeves, charming buttons up the bodice, a belted waist, and a soft A-line skirt. She wore her hair in glamorous waves, as always. The 41-year-old opted for subtle makeup that emphasizes the eyes and a lip color to match her dress. She styled the look with crisp white pointed-toe heels—a favorite of Ms. Barbie herself; just ask Margot Robbie—and silver drop earrings.
The dress is yet another rewear for the princess. Kate Middleton first wore the dress in 2021, back when she was the Duchess of Cambridge, at the Wimbledon championships. Then, she wore it with the same earrings and a similar hairstyle but different shoes; instead of the white pumps, she wore nude ankle-strap heels.
The look is embracing the Barbiecore trend—whether the princess was aware or not. In the age of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, wearing pink is a statement that indicates you are a cinephile who will very much be in a theater on July 21 to watch Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. Barbiecore has been a trend since last year and is unlikely to go away anytime soon. In fact, it will probably saturate the sartorial world even more after the movie comes out next month.
