Le Château returns to Canadian retail
Canadian legacy brand Le Château announced this week its triumphant return to retail.
The Montreal-based brand, which announced it was going out of business in 2020 after six decades, has returned with its first full launch in Suzy Shier brick-and-mortar stores, introducing its latest Spring/Summer 2022 Collection.
The collection, featuring dresses, accessories, and the return of its popular footwear collection, is now available online, and in 37 new concept Suzy Shier locations across the country as of April 21st. The opening of these Suzy/Le Château premium stores marks one of the largest new concept brick-and-mortar retail roll-outs in recent history.
Additionally, Le Château dresses will be available at the HBC
“As proud as we are of our online site, we are also delighted to be back in stores”, said Franco Rocchi, former Le Château executive and now senior director of marketing on the new Suzy/Le Château team.
“The brand was born in brick-and-mortar, and we couldn’t be happier to rejoin the community of retailers in shopping centers across the country. We are also proud to join our sister brand Suzy in stores now providing a full-service destination for our customers: fashion daywear and workwear at Suzy, while Le Château takes care of all your nighttime and special occasion needs. Le Château also announces the return of its beloved footwear collection, and Le Château menswear makes its online debut! Le Chateau and Suzy: Canada’s new fashion powerhouse.”
True to the brand’s roots as a dress designer, Le Château offers styles, prints, and silhouettes for every summer occasion including feminine florals and pastel-hued chiffons, to cut-outs, sequins, and sparkles for special occasion like proms, weddings, and more.
Following impacts from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, under the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA), the brand began liquidating assets and permanently closing its 123 locations across the country in 2020. Store closures lead to the loss of some 1,400 jobs, including its 500 head office employees, and 900 retail store employees.
