Jennifer Aniston knows her way around a good LBD better than just about anyone. Black dresses, in all their forms, have been the foundation of her wardrobe since the 1990s, and the star still reaches for them regularly to this day.
The actor, who is promoting the sequel to her Netflix comedy, Murder Mystery, made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week wearing a ruched satin-jersey black midi dress, a longline coat and strappy sandals. The combination called to mind the red-carpet looks she served during her Friends and wasn’t a far cry from the wardrobe of her TV alter ego, Rachel Green, either.
Aniston’s dress is from Matthieu Blazy’s resort 2023 collection for Bottega Veneta and features an eye-catching gold bar on one shoulder that evokes the hardware seen on the designer’s accessories (like his already cult Sardine bag). “It was quite a playful exercise,” Blazy said of the collection. “It felt quite free.”
It’s no surprise that Bottega’s spin on the classic LBD attracted the attention of Aniston, who often falls for simple pieces with an unusual twist. Take the vintage Valentino gown she wore at the Golden Globes in 2004, for example, with its sparkling buckle at the sternum.
