Monochrome groutfit alert. Tia Mowry, who has been vocally embracing her gray hair as she ages, seems to have simply fallen in love with the color, because she just stepped out in head-to-toe gray, and it looks grayt.
Headed to the Today show, the Sister, Sister star paired a shimmery silver skirt with gray suede boots and a gray oversized blazer. Underneath, she wore a white shirt, which is technically very very very light gray, when you think about it. Don’t worry about the gold and black purse, girl’s gotta carry stuff.
To complete the look, she accessorized with thick silver jewelry and an intricate manicure, plus a very glossy nude lip, but it’s the unexpected hair accessory that steals the show here. Puka shells!
Also known as cowry shells, these natural accessories have long been incorporated into traditional African and African-American braided hair styles, and have different meanings in different cultures. As explained by the blog What Naturals Love, they can symbolize everything from fertility to religion to really liking the ocean. For Valentine’s Day this year, Mowry had a heart braided into her hair, and we love seeing her get creative with these styles!
In addition to her acting and styling and cooking, Tia Mowry has a degree in psychology from Pepperdine, and gave on how to calm down quick: “[Studying psychology for years] taught me if you want to calm the mind, you have to calm your environment. It can be as simple as making your bed, or just having your main living space decluttered and organized. Physical activity, even just 20 minutes, helps with stress, and of course, being conscious of what foods you put into your body.” Seeing as she’s in the middle of an (amicable!!!) divorce, we can imagine that the dove gray clothing palette provides some much-needed soothing vibes.
