Meghan Markle is all aboard the oversized suit trend.
On Friday, April 15, the Duchess of Sussex made her first appearance at the Invictus Games in The Hague, Netherlands, wearing a head-to-toe white ensemble, complete with wide-leg trousers, an oversized blazer, and complementary accessories. If the Daily Mail is to be believed, Markle also paid homage to her 2018 nuptials to Prince Harry by wearing the same Aquazzura stilettos from her wedding. If they are not the same pair, they do bear a remarkable resemblance.
Honestly, this Valentino power suit may be one of Markle’s best looks yet:
Let’s take another look at some of these details. According to the Daily Mail, Markle not only styled the look with a gold pendant and delicate chains around her hand but also wore Princess Diana’s Cartier watch, which was gifted to the duchess by her husband.
If you think the look feels slightly familiar, you must be completely up-to-date on all things royal. Just last month Kate Middleton wore a white suit by Alexander McQueen during her controversial visit to Jamaica with Prince William. Markle’s look is definitely more trendy thanks to the oversized fit and the no-shirt look, while Middleton opted for a classic style with an orange blouse underneath. Still, we can’t help but dub this a successful twinning moment.
While it may be a stretch to view similar sartorial choices as proof of reconciliation, there is evidence that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reconnecting with at least one member of the royal family. According to , the couple paid a visit to Queen Elizabeth ahead of their trip to the Netherlands, marking their first joint trip to the U.K. since moving to California in 2020. A spokesperson for the couple confirmed that the couple saw the queen at Windsor Castle, where she’s been staying since her COVID-19 diagnosis in February.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be in the Netherlands for several days to take in the Invictus Games, an international sporting event founded by the Duke of Sussex in 2014 for wounded service members.
If this was just the first official outfit of the trip, we can’t wait to see what Meghan Markle wears next.
