Izipizi gains B Corp certification
French eyewear brand Izipizi announced on Wednesday that it is now a B Corp-labeled company.
B Corp is a global label that sets out a standard of excellence for businesses with strong social and ecological commitments, which is increasingly a must-have for fashion brands. As a B Corp-labeled company, Izipizi joins a network of 6,000 labeled companies worldwide.
It all started in 2020, when Izipizi completed its first comprehensive Carbon Audit pinpointing its main sources of emissions. Next, in 2021, a target was set to achieve 30% of production using biosourced materials.
To this end, in June 2021, it introduced a new material composed of 45% castor oil, resulting in an equivalent reduction in fossil fuels. As a result, in July, Izipizi officially gained B Corp certification.
To achieve B Corp certification, every part of the company was examined. The five pillars of B Corp are studied during the assessment process: governance, the workers, the environment, customers and the community.
“Being welcomed into this sought-after and restricted circle (only 300 French companies) is a reflection of how hard we work every day to ensure that our actions are beneficial to everyone around us,” said Izipizi in a news statement.
“These are not mere words. Izipizi is fully committed to working towards a more responsible future.”
